At present, there have been a large number of studies on gram-positive bacteria displaying heterologous proteins on the cell surface, and expression systems based on the fibrillar M6 protein from Streptococcus pyogenes and protein A from Staphylococcus aureus has been established. Staphylococcus is a gram-positive bacterium with a single cell membrane and an exopeptidoglycan layer that forms a rigid cell wall. Due to this strong cell wall, Staphylococcus may be suitable for industrial applications where the cell surface displays enzymes, where the bacteria will be subjected to the strong shear forces present in the bioreactor.

Staphylococcus carnosus surface display system services

Staphylococcus carnosus has a sequence derived from Staphylococcus aureus protein A, and contains fragments required for covalent cell surface anchoring. It is widely used as a starter for sausage fermentation and contributes to food safety, flavor and controlled fermentation process. The Staphylococcus carnosus surface display system we provide can be used for the surface expression of several antigenic determinants, using live recombinant bacteria to induce local and systemic antibody responses of mixed receptors. The advantages of Staphylococcus surface display platforms are that can use intact bacteria for separation because the cell wall is thicker, its rigidity is stronger.
