Natural Gene Amplification Service

With the support of our advanced protein engineering platform established for many years, Creative BioMart provides a variety of methods to select the best mutation sequence or sequence library to identify mutants that contain the desired characteristics defined by protein engineering goals. Our scientists provide you with fully customized natural gene amplification service based on DNA duplication technology.

Natural gene amplification, also called chromosome duplication or gene duplication, is the main mechanism for generating new genetic material during the evolution of biomolecules. Gene duplication may result from DNA replication and repair errors, as well as through fortuitous capture by selfish genetic elements. Gene duplication and subsequent differentiation play an important role in the evolution of new gene functions.

Services

Not all structural features of a protein can be obtained by a single mutation. In particular, some protein features require the participation of multiple amino acid residues, requiring at least two mutations in different codons. The natural gene amplification services we provide occur through whole genome replication (WGD), chromosomal replication, or small-scale replication of fragments that usually contain multiple genes. It allows one copy of the gene to mutate and explore hereditary space, while the other copy continues to perform its original function. The difference between the repeated genes may cause the emergence of new functions of the protein that did not exist before. In addition, we provide a huge pool of potential activities for hundreds of enzymes in any proteome, which can be used as a starting point for the evolution of new enzymes through gene replication and divergence.

Advantages of Natural Gene Amplification

  • Since protein production is more expensive than mRNA production, protein overexpression from amplified genes is the most critical contribution to the cost of gene replication/amplification.
  • Differences between repeated genes can alter enzyme regulation, cellular localization and/or function.
  • Gene duplication is an effective way to create new biological functions, sometimes in the form of duplication of the complete genome. In many species, especially large eukaryotes, gene duplication can also lead to genetic redundancy, so many copies of paralogous genes have no obvious function.

Applications of Natural Gene Amplification

The polymerase chain reaction gene amplification service is not limited to protein production, but can also change the interaction between regulated mutations and mutations that change enzyme activity through gene replication. By sequence comparison of all annotated gene models with each other, it is possible to identify paralogs in a single genome.
